Freedom to Learn PAC aims to recruit, support, and elect pro-public education candidates across Michigan’s school board races in 2024 and beyond. Working with a diverse group of parents, educators, community leaders, union leaders, and political leaders, we aim to recruit candidates who believe that Michigan students should have the freedom to learn unvarnished truths and facts, and who support the freedom for teachers to use their professional training to teach. Freedom to Learn endorsed candidates will support fully and equitably funding public education, will work to ensure that equal opportunities exist for all students to be prepared for the careers of tomorrow, and will work to address educator shortages by improving compensation and respect for education professions. Supported candidates will recognize the role of school boards in ensuring safe learning conditions for students and educators, and will support policies of equality and inclusion for people of all backgrounds. These candidates will work in district slates to run on a unified message that has been tested and developed to fit their community and maximize electoral success.
